Guest Editor's Introduction: iSERVO-The International Solid Earth Research Virtual Observatory
نویسنده
چکیده
Observatory (iSERVO; www.iservo. edu.au) is a planned partnership of primarily Asia Pacific economies interested in studying, forecasting, and mitigating the damaging effects of large and great earthquakes as well as the tsunamis they produce. The iSERVO concept is founded on the use of modern information technology to simulate the nonlinear dynamical earthquake and tsunami processes at all relevant scales, and to organize, collate, and interpret the massive new data sets that will be available in the partner countries beginning within the next three years. iSERVO is envisioned to be an open partnership of many nodes in many regions. It will be or-

iSERVO: Implementing the International Solid Earth Research Virtual Observatory by Integrating Computational Grid and Geographical Information Web Services
We describe the goals and initial implementation of the International Solid Earth Virtual Observatory (iSERVO). This system is built using a Web Services approach to Grid computing infrastructure and is accessed via a component-based Web portal user interface. We describe our implementations of services used by this system, including Geographical Information System (GIS)-based data grid service...

متن کاملQuakeSim and the Solid Earth Research Virtual Observatory
We are developing simulation and analysis tools in order to develop a solid Earth Science framework for understanding and studying active tectonic and earthquake processes. The goal of QuakeSim and its extension, the Solid Earth Research Virtual Observatory (SERVO), is to study the physics of earthquakes using state-of-the-art modeling, data manipulation, and pattern recognition technologies. W...
متن کاملComplexity Computational Environment: Data Assimilation SERVOGrid
We are using Web (Grid) service technology to demonstrate the assimilation of multiple distributed data sources (a typical data grid problem) into a major parallel high-performance computing earthquake forecasting code. Such a linkage of Geoinformatics with Geocomplexity demonstrates the value of the Solid Earth Research Virtual Observatory (SERVO) Grid concept, and advance Grid technology by b...
متن کاملSERVO - ACES Abstract
We describe our continuing work on implementing Open GIS Consortium (OGC) compatible Grid Services for the International Solid Earth Research Virtual Observatory. Our initial efforts focused on collecting Earthquake and GPS data from various sources, converting them to GML and enabling query capabilities using pure Web Services approach. We have extended this work by creating Web Services imple...
